Things that Have Not Changed Before and After the Flood

 1. The sinfulness of man has not changed. 

a. Man was sinful before the cataclysm

     "every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time." (Gen. 6:5 NIV) 

b. Man still is sinful after the cataclysm

      "every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood." (Gen. 8:21)

2. The hatred of God towards sin has not changed. 

a. God abhorred sin before the flood. He judged sinful humanity by drowning them.
 

b. God still abhors sin. He will again judge this world by fire (2 Peter 3:7) 

3. The saving grace of God has not changed. 

a. God gave instructions to Noah on how to escape the coming wrath. Noah responded in faith. Leon Morris comments on Heb.11:7, "His action was motivated by faith, not by any reasoned calculation of the probabilities based on the best available evidence."
 

b. For us, God also provided a way to escape the coming wrath. This time, we don't have to be inside an ark to be rescued. What matters is for us to be in Christ.

    1 Thessalonians 1:10 "and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead--Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath."
