Apples of Gold in Settings of Silver (09-18-2011)

in place of "books", I would like to substitute the word "blogs"
"Books may preach where the author cannot, when the author may not, when the author dares not, yea, and (which is more), when the author is not."
~Thomas Brooks

The heart's throne and Christian living
"Your heart is the central aspect of your being and what you treat as holy there cannot help but have a massive impact on the rest of your life: how you speak, how you act, how you respond to tragedy, persecution and difficulty, {and} to death itself.."

~James R. White

The Sinful Man and His Labors (Psalm 90:17)
"The Lord's acceptance of his own assures a certain permanence of their work. Life under the sun may be vain. The man under God's judgment can accomplish no ultimate good. However, the godly and wise pray that the Lord will accept their work and "establish" it as having value . Frail, limited, and sinful as man is, the love of God can transform what is weak to his own glory."

~Willem VanGemeren

 Personal faith and social concern
"Personal faith in Jesus Christ comes with a set of social obligations. A Christian who lives in the awareness of what the Savior has done for her also asks what she can do for Him. We are not merely objects of grace but instruments of grace."

~Haddon Robinson

 On forgiveness
"To return evil for good is devilish. To return good for good is human. To return good for evil is divine"

~William Temple
